Course Summary – 23GN02C: Innovation through Design Thinking
This course introduces students from all B.E./B.Tech. programmes to the principles and practice of design thinking as a systematic, human-centered approach to innovation and problem solving. It emphasizes experiential learning through analysis of the design thinking process, including its historical evolution, phases, and application to real-world challenges. Students explore a variety of ideation tools such as brainstorming, mind mapping, SCAMPER, and Six Thinking Hats through case studies to understand their impact on creative solution development. The course enables learners to practice the preliminary stages of design thinking by identifying real-world problems, conducting surveys, and presenting findings. Through collaborative team activities, students develop core skills in data interpretation and presentation, along with soft skills such as ethical responsibility, effective communication, and teamwork, preparing them to address complex engineering problems innovatively and responsibly.
